The choir

The choir is one of the most remarkable features of the temple, crafted by the Italian artist Antonio Soldati. He employed Venetian techniques and styles in this stunning stucco work, while also incorporating wood for the railing, stone for the lower part of the pilasters, and ceramics for the baseboard. The structure is supported by five arch-es. The intricate ornamentation showcases elements from nature, including fruits, plants, and flowers, along with cherubs, geometric shapes, and coats of arms. The colour palette consists of green, violet, and white.

In the arch on the left, there is a monumental baptismal font sculpted in 1655 from a single piece of marble.

Three paintings stand out above the choir. The central one is St. James. The two lateral ones are sagas of saints.

The two side chapels are also the work of Soldati in neoclassical style and are currently dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen and the Virgin of Lourdes.
