Chapel of the Name of Jesus
The Chapel of the Name of Jesus was constructed in 1639. This invocation was en-couraged by confraternities that opposed blasphemy. Confraternities are associations of the faithful centreed around a specific invocation or petition.
The altar, which features an anagram of the Name of Jesus, is made of marble, similar to most of the altars in the temple. The central painting on the lower part depicts a scene from St. Luke's Gospel, where a young Jesus engages in a debate with the doc-tors of the law in the temple of Jerusalem.
The upper painting represents St. Bernardine of Siena and St. John of Capistrano, who were known for promoting this invocation.
In the attic, we discover a high-quality painting that depicts the circumcision of Jesus. The two lateral sides illustrate scenes from the Messiah's life.
